#33 Boardgame extraordinaire!

So the past few months I've been working on a boardgame. Its a cyberspace old prigrams fighting new programs kind of game. I settled on a game mechanic that I think speeds up game play and keeps the game moving. It boils down to any unit always being able to damage opponents and if your lucky you can outright delete an enemy unit. My friend Omar has been collaborating with me on making it really awesome. He made all the mini's in the following photos.

When I get around to it or feel up to it. I've been working on making a game and have had some awesome help from my good friend Omar! So much so that it's pretty much a collaboration. The game uses a hexagon board and Omar has done the artwork and is making  figures for it. I've been primary game design and with some more playtesting I think it should turn out pretty good! I'll post some stuff up later (once again: maybe) about story and such behind the game. Right now just know that it's a fast paced board game involving two players trying to capture the others goodies. I think making some other game types will make the game more appealing as well along with a sweet expansion (more on that in the ambiguous future).

Anyways, I've got some Firestorm Armada stuff to look at...

#29 school project - stacking things

So here is test I did for an idea I have for a project for school. I just made a simple gun image, made copies and scaled them from 100% to 10%. It looks alright though if I go with this idea I will probably go with every 5% step starting at 100% since right now it shrinks down a lot near the smaller sizes. I probably wouldn't use the rainbow for a color scheme although it does add a certain humor to the work. I am also not sure of the material to use.
The other idea I have is to do something similar but break apart the shape into smaller less recognizable pieces and do the same scale progression (every 5%). Then I would have multiple stalagmites/stalactites to mess around with in both placement of them, colors and materials.

Post #22 The 40k symbol project

Well here is the before and after shots of the 40k army symbol project I have been working on for the past few weeks. After finally getting them cast in bronze I was met with disappointment due to some of the symbols not taking the bronze, five of them were completely unusable and the rest have a weird film on them that makes them look burnt. Following are the shots of the symbols cut out fo the styrene followed by the the bronze casts.

Post #21: mixed emoticons

Wow, busy past few days. Cooking, school, banking stuff. Most of everything I had going on has been resolved to some extent. I cooked this and this and even this, so I've been learning stuff like not to have too many burners going at once and definitely know the recipe before getting started. I'd post up pics but after getting it all done and such I'm pretty tired and just want to eat.

Electrical kit project

For my 106 class I had to purchase an electrical kit, build it, and place it somewhere in a public place it may not otherwise belong. I purchased a "Tropical Bird Noise" kit, or it maybe it was jungle bird... I'm rather new to soldering and reading electrical diagrams. If I had not had some timely help this kit probably would have taken me a lot longer than 2 1/2 hours to make. Enough with the background.

I assembled the kit and placed it in a watch case I found at work.








Then I decided on a place to go and test out whether my device would have an effect on people. At this time I should mention that the best I could get was a high pitched intermittent squeal. Which was annoying but not very loud. So I decided to go to a local super market.










I put the device in one of those little red shopping baskets and proceeded to walk around the store. Most people did not react at all to the noise. The only evidence I saw of a reaction was a guy in the frozen food section who looked around like he was seeking the source of something (my digital jungle bird hopefully). After a brief look around he walked off quickly. So I kept moving around the store. I made a second pass at the frozen food section at the exact same time as the guy who walked away previously! What luck, I could now see if what happened before was not just a fluke. It wasn't. As soon as I walked up he walked away again. So the digital jungle bird was slightly effective. If I could have controlled the volume it would have been better although adding anything to the kit probably would have ended up in its destruction.

So that's my first foray into making a kit and placing it somewhere it may not belong.
